WitW - Session 17

Captain Grangle frees Almyre and Jeatz onto the docks shortly after they pulled into the winter court port. A tremor rocked the court as they were escorted to the prison below the barracks. The two tried to trick the guards by Jeatz turning into a gnome who swore he didn't know why he was there. Grangle took him anyway to stand trial before the council of three in the senate anyway.

Meanwhile, Horace pulled into port, and Tharun showed him around town brining him to the Teardrop bar, a well-known hole in the wall favored by some locals. Steve, the owner, mentioned that Bronto was helping him with his new drafts.

Bronto walked into the bar. Bronto was immediately apologetic and Horace trusted him right away. Bronto said now was not the time but he would in good time explain what happened to Leander, but there were more pressing matters at hand. He went to explain that Lady Eirlys, potentially at the direction of the Wizard, plans to march the winter court against the remainder of Exurbia. There's also the issue of an Ice Wyrm potentially destroying the Winter Court if it wakes up.

Horace is willing to help, but needs his friends back, so off they go to the trial of Jeatz and Almyre with Tharun making Horace invisible so he could watch. The pair are charged with murdering the goblins of the winter court ware house as well as with murdering Red-Eye.

Much to everyone's surprise, Lady Eirlys turned the trial on its head by blaming Thunderbane for both crimes. The pair, taken aback by the judgement, played dumb, leading to the sentencing of Thunderbane to the mines. As payment for saving their lives, Eirlys has tasked the pair with destroying the cult, and gods forbid the Ice Wyrm itself if the rumors are true that it is waking. The pair were free to go, but Horace, in a ballsy move stole a pair of the arcane shackles that had fallen to the floor.

The party reunited at the stone's throw inn. Tharun and Jeatz had a joyous reuniting. And Avery needs to slightly retcon something - Bronto was the one who put the bounty on Horace in the first place. It was someone else that burned his house down.

Bronto promised his life to Horace as a life debt and would follow his leadership. The party deliberates for a while- do they allow the wyrm to wreak havoc on the court to dismantle its power so it cannot march on other courts. Or do they eliminate it and the cult?

They made their way to Spival’s shop, buying a few healing potions, sold the Gloves of Swimming and Climbing for a potion of Frost Giant Strength. Tharun parted ways with them saying he needed to get back to the barren cloak. They readied themselves on the bridge before taking the plunge into the icy waterway to get to the cult.
