WitW - Session 41
The party awoke to Pascal urgently calling Ty’s attention—he could sense Jeatz again. Wasting no time, they searched around the base of Lightwatch Tower and eventually solved a chain puzzle, revealing a hidden passage. They spent several hours ascending the spiraling staircase within.
Emerging behind a secret door, they found themselves in a book storage area beneath Lightwatch Tower. Rummaging through the library, they discovered an instructional guide on how to cast Speak with Dead. They also spotted a locked cage containing various items but decided to return to it later.
While exploring, they encountered a prisoner named Lorne, who had been thrown into a cell for refusing to serve the Church. He revealed that worship had shifted entirely to King Melchior, and his dissent landed him in the “clink.” In exchange for information, the party freed him, giving him gold and sending him down the secret passage toward Kerchek. Lorne mentioned seeing Jordigan and an elf-like man who was treated like a prince—implying he must have revealed valuable information.
Moving into the high-security section, the party struggled for some time to disable the anti-magic field and unlock the heavy doors. Eventually, they opened each door in turn.
The first cell held Jeatz, but he was missing. Inscribed on the wall was a chilling message: "They know everything."
The second cell contained a man named Scraps, a druid who had been Wild Shaped as a wolf for so long that he was more beast than man. Horace successfully convinced Scraps to fight alongside them.
The final cell contained nothing but an amulet embedded in the floor. When the anti-magic field was disabled, the amulet floated into the hallway, pierced their memories, and vanished.
Before they could react, the interrogation room doors swung open—Jordigan Duskweaver stood before them, flanked by two inquisitor clerics. The party rolled initiative.
Thinking quickly, Horace used the Immovable Rod to block the door, buying precious time to prepare. When they finally burst into the interrogation room, they swiftly began cutting down the clerics with Jordigan and Scraps’ assistance.
However, they were soon ambushed from the other side—two Solarians appeared, drawn by the commotion.
Almyre immediately unleashed a Fireball, but the Solarians redirected some of its magic back at her. Thinking fast, she cast Suggestion on one of the Solarians, compelling him to guard the interrogation room—effectively removing him from combat. The party made quick work of the remaining clerics and Solarians. Then, they turned on the charmed Solarian, dispatching him swiftly and hiding all the bodies in the interrogation room. A thorough search of the corpses yielded nothing of value.
Jordigan, leader of the Eclipse, shared his vision of other worlds—realities where Melchior never ruled. He believed the king’s entire reign to be false. Despite his warnings that rescuing Jeatz might bring disaster, the party insisted Jeatz was essential in stopping Ariazel.
Ty had a moment of realization—her circle’s oral traditions spoke of a dark figure whose hand guided evil throughout history. Jordigan confirmed this: a powerful Lich, whose rise could doom not only humanity but possibly the gods themselves.
Meanwhile, in the Office of High Priest Odegaard…
Jeatz sat in silence, his eyes scanning the desk before him. A manuscript caught his attention: "The Gods – Volume 7: On Exurbia and Her Realm."
Before he could process its significance, the door creaked open. High Priest Odegaard entered, his gaze heavy with expectation.
“Tell me more about the Wild,” he said.
