WitW - Session 37

Almyre had a very different dream of Glacius. Instead of admonishment, Glacius was proud of her actions and gifted her a Mask of Many Faces, which would help Almyre spread her message.

The party graciously accepted the steeds offered by Vale Crimsonthorn, though they hesitated to immediately commit to pursuing Victor Kane, who was presumed to be hiding in the vanished village of Miracle.

Vale introduced them to her half-sister, Tyundra Leephalia. Horace was immediately put off by Ty’s ruthlessly cheery demeanor. The party named their new horses Jeetz, Morningstar, and Barnicus. Ty insisted the group be called “Team Leephalia.”

Their journey presented them with a choice: if they rushed and avoided mishaps, they could catch the Royal Host in two days. Traveling at a normal pace, however, would require six days of straight travel.

Day 1 started rough. They were ambushed by a group of snakes. Barnicus went down almost immediately, but Almyre used her Ring of Healing Word to revive him. During the battle, Tyundra revealed her unsettling true colors—blood began to pour from her eyes, and she sent Horace into a blood frenzy. Morningstar suffered a nasty hit, but Ty healed the horse with her abilities. Despite these setbacks, the party cut through the snakes with relative ease. However, Ty displayed an eerie side, absorbing the blood leaking from her eyes.

They pushed on at a quickened pace, only to encounter more bad luck. A massive froghemoth burst out of the mud, blocking their path. This time, they smartly backed the horses away from the threat. Ty imbued a puppet with her blood and sent it toward the froghemoth, keeping her distance. The creature pulled Almyre off her horse and swallowed Horace whole. Trapped inside, Horace managed to slash his way out, forcing the beast to vomit him up. As Horace and Almyre stood dangerously close to the creature, Ty detonated her blood puppet in an explosive blast. Shortly after, Almyre was also swallowed, but Ty and Horace managed to kill the froghemoth before it could harm her.

The misfortunes continued. The party encountered a pack of owlbears but managed to dispatch them with relative ease, thanks to Glitter’s Polymorph spell. Ty showed off her necrotic abilities, channeling the fading life energy of an owlbear to deliver one final attack before the creature expired.

Day 3 proved to be their worst yet. A tiny field mouse approached them, but Horace killed it immediately. Unfortunately, the mouse had been about to warn them that they had entered the territory of Gravernux, the Green Dragon.

The encounter was devastating. Gravernux’s poison breath annihilated both Morningstar and Jeetz. Horace and Ty fared little better, with Horace suffering the greatest loss—his prized, badass hat. Enraged, Horace leaped from Ty’s back and landed a critical blow on Gravernux, dealing 90 damage in a single strike and nearly halving the dragon’s health. Gravernux retaliated with a wing attack, buffeting Ty and knocking her unconscious. Almyre rushed to her aid, reviving her before Polymorphing into a T-Rex, drastically inflating her health pool.

The battle raged on. Horace called upon his Amulet of Bhaal, the god of death, to deliver another powerful strike. Meanwhile, Pascal’s Tides of Chaos granted Ty the edge she needed to land a devastating sanguine explosion, further weakening the dragon. Finally, Almyre-Rex delivered the killing blow. She tore into Gravernux’s throat with her massive jaws, then launched his severed head with her tail, sending it flying into the foothills of the nearby mountains.
