WitW - Session 36

After defeating the beast, the red haze surrounding the druids faded. A woman emerged from the dead body of the carrion beast, handed a thorny crown to Almyre, and then dashed off into the forest, saying she would find the party later. Jeatz tried to play off the battle by pretending that he had been infected by the carrion beast and transformed into its form, using his already large size for effect. However, the ship fired another volley at the town, hitting Jeatz, who managed to endure the attack using Worm’s Endurance.

The Solarian forces insisted the party was under arrest for using magic. Still outnumbered, the group decided to flee. Unfortunately, Jeatz didn’t quite make it. Odegaard appeared in town with reinforcements, capturing him with a Wall of Force. Thankfully, Horace called out to Pascal, who skittered away from the unconscious Jeatz just as the wall formed.

Almyre and Horace ran into the forest, with Glitter offering to help them locate the druids. As they traveled, a palpable sadness settled over them at losing Jeatz yet again—it was starting to become a habit. Almyre noticed eyes watching them in the forest, and suddenly, the woman who had been consumed by the beast reappeared. She expressed her gratitude.

She explained that her crown had been cursed by Victor Kane, which corrupted it. He had infiltrated the grove, charming everyone with a pair of twigs twisted together. She reckoned it had been close to a decade since he began his influence. She also revealed that a village called Miracle, which had mysteriously vanished one day, was where Victor was now hiding. Additionally, she mentioned that fey energy seemed to be leaking into the material plane. The party connected this to the events they had witnessed in the Wild, realizing they were all likely intertwined.

The woman introduced herself as Vale Crimsonthorn and revealed that druids of the Circle of the Moon resided to the east, on the other side of the mountain range. She believed they could help the party reach Victor Kane to defeat him, as fate seemed to be calling them to this task. She offered them steeds for the journey.

That evening, they were able to rest in peace. Horace took the opportunity to train Glitter, and everyone leveled up to 10!
