Criminal Quandaries - S10
The party had just left Askelios, out on their next adventure to Fairhaven. On their second day of travel, they approached Areksul, and only a few miles outside of the village, Malaki spotted a dragon that appeared to be made of bone flying to the west, after attacking the village.
They got to the village at sundown, smelling burnt flesh on the wind, while people were running around panicked. They stopped a woman who had lost her baby. Yeet rushed in finding the baby, but he immediately dumped it off on the Constable, Steven. The group headed north to the Inn.
Meanwhile, Gus and Malaki wandered off to the infirmary. Gus tried his best to heal the injured and taught the wizards proper medical care, while Malaki stole the souls from those on the edge of death using the ring. They too headed to the inn.
Full of Androgenous, same looking people, Kaige offered to help serve the stew to gather information about the dragon, while Gus healed the kids watching the magic show. Yeet shared a drink with a halfling named Dimak who warned that his grandmother was a banshee trapped in an effigy that would kill the town if they didn't sing it a song. Yeet shared with Malaki first, and they plotted to let the banshee kill the town and clean up the souls afterwards. Kaige warned not to set the bar too high for Strahd.
Malaki had real food for the first time in a long time, and took some to-go soups as they ventured off towards Dimak's house sans Gus. Bastle and Kaige semi-successfully lifted some debris to get to the basement. Kaige threw a shirt over the necklace to pick it up. Gus had noticed the magicians had left the tavern, and nearly left, but decided to stay with the kids.
On their way back up the party waas ambushed. An intense battle ensued- involving an invisible bear, Dimak's death, and the powerful slow spell. The wizard admitted Kaige's mother sent them, but sadly Bastle didn't make it out alive. In a race for time, Gus sprinted his way to the house, and cast Gentle repose just before Bastle passed.
The last of the magician's militia took off for safety, but Kaige was poised to catch her.
